  a Redemptorist pioneer, Fr. Sendaerl, C.Ss.R. with the Ottawa tribe on Lake Michigan.
- Neumann's devotion to children was manifest in his personal visits to schools and orphanges, as well as writing Cathechisms for their benefit. Eventually they became the basis for the "Baltimore Cathehism."
- Matthew Carey printed the first Catholic
  Bible in America. The Bible is called the "Carey Bible" since it was printed by Matthew Carey, the first Catholic publisher in the United States.
