MISSIONARY, LITTLE BISHOP
The Mission of the National Shrine of St. John Neumann, C.Ss.R. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is to be part of the apostolic missionary activity of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) to follow the example of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, by preaching the Word of God to all, especially the poor. The National Shrine of St. John Neumann endeavors to be a place of Perpetual Mission through the frequent daily celebration of the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
St. John Neumann is known for his gift of hospitality, his deep love of Jesus in the Eucharist and his dedication to Catholic education. The Shrine seeks to continue this legacy by providing a quiet welcoming atmosphere for personal prayer as well as giving tours/pilgrimage/retreat experiences to school-age students and adult groups.
