Monday, February 19, 2024 marked a day of vandalism at the National Shrine of St. John Neumann. Early in the morning someone hurled rocks through 3 stained glass windows in the shrine. The stained glass windows are protected on the outside with quarter inch tempered glass. The rocks broke through the tempered glass and broke various areas of the stained glass. Fortunately, no one was in the Shrine, except our saint, St. John Neumann. St. John Neumann, I believe, advocated with God for protection of the shrine along with Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
Other churches and buildings were vandalized as well. Please pray for all communities affected by violence.
SPECIAL UPDATE!
We have now learned that this project is being supported by a Grant from the National Fund for Sacred Places in collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation!!! This means that we have $25,000 towards the repair which will cost $41,000. We are grateful for their assistance and we are still collecting funds to cover the costs.
